GLASS PEBBLE, SPACE FOR LIFE COMPETITION, BOTANICAL GARDENS

Extract from the presentation panel:

"The glass pavilion is a place where humans and events are immersed in the natural environment. Its museology puts forward objects in a connected world where glass is omnipresent in all its forms.

The vestibule is strategically placed between the public spaces and the service block, where elevators, restrooms, a cloakroom, as well as common and technical support spaces are housed. The reception room, connected to the Place de la Rose by large swiveling glass openings, is suspended in the volume of the multifunctional room by a Vierendeel truss anchored on the roof. The multifunctional room is free of columns and offers all of its space for events, with a ceiling and a floor that integrate all the required mechanical and electrical services. A monumental staircase in front of the ample south facade connects the two rooms with landings that give access to the inner courtyard of the existing Biodiversity Pavilion and can be used for exhibitions or simply to hang out. The roof terrace consists of a section sheltered by biomimetic umbrellas that react to changes in weather and a covered outdoor space where event related equipment is installed. Lush gardens surround and stimulate the visitor's sense of smell and touch. The double wall of the north and east facades allow visual transparency and natural lighting for the different spaces, but also ensure a high thermal performance. It houses the staircase that connects the vestibule, the rooms and the roof terrace. The Place de la Rose, with its “Lion de la Feuillée” pond, is a large red carpet that symbolizes the ceremonial entrance to the Pavilion and the Rose Garden. "
