Since 2012, ékm architecture has been generously contributing to the construction of a community clinic, a project initiated by the Makupo Development Group in the Chilanga village of Malawi. This non-profit organization was founded by the Saka-Millers, a Canadian-Malawian family based in Montreal. This clinic is an essential piece of infrastructure that is missing from a country where the infant mortality rate is 16 times higher than in Canada.
This project has been carefully developed in collaboration with health care professionals and government officials. The construction team composed mainly from local labor is using building techniques specific to the region and thus contribute to a sustainable and economical approach to the realization of the clinic.
