The existing 5000 m2 Brunswick Medical Centre is presently housing about 1500 m2 of their medical and administrative services in separate buildings due to a lack of space. The aim of the expansion is to gather all their medical and administrative services together under one roof and to give more space to the Family and Radiology Clinics for future growth. The new four-storey structure currently under construction will create an additional 5850 m2 of space and will be connected to the existing building at the ground floor level. The modified ground floor will have a new main entrance with a generous lobby, an expanded pharmacy as well as several retail outlets offering medical services and equipment (Optometry, Accessibility and Aural), not to mention a bank and a coffee shop. There will also be an underground parking garage to provide for the parking requirements of the Brunswick Medical Centre staff.
The Brunswick Medical Centre currently sees around 5,000 patients a week and offers the local public with a wide array of medical services including Cardiology, Dermatology, Emergency, Family, Mental Health, Minor Surgery, Obstetrics and Radiology. With the new extension, the Centre will be expanding the Family clinic and Radiology Clinic, and adding a Pediatric Clinic, Research Centre, and Ambulatory Clinic and, in so doing, will become one of the largest Medical Centres in Quebec.
